Well, it took a bit of effort but I found my collection of images from Lahaina, historic whaling village on (less) Heavenly Maui.

Maui Rainbow

For some reason ("life is what happens...") I never posted images of Lanai to my own site, although I did post images of the old prison and one of the world's most amazing banyan trees on Front Street.... all memories now, only.

It may take a while but I'm going to make a web page of images of Lahaina, and add to my existing Maui collection:

Poor Maui... 😞 On fire... Poor Lahaina, gone...

Resharing a very favorite song... an instrumental by... Hot Tuna
(Posted where originally? Why, Google+ !)
Someone just commented an my YT comment (of 9 years ago!), so, I'm reminded...

Perfect song for many, in summer....

Water Song

Papohaku

Beautiful display of Jorma's guitar wizardry, Jack's other-worldly bass, and as someone just commented, "Sammy on the skins".

The call of many concert-goers for many years: "Hot Tuna!"

Photo is mine, of Papohaku beach, on the tiny island of Moloka'i. My remaining (non-G+) collection of images & videos @ http://www.fenichel.com/molokai

Just because... actually was mentioning the great Brother Noland, who now does weekly slack key shows, Jorma/Fur Peace Ranch style. This is his 1990 hit (in the Hawaiian islands). Sort of Pacific style reggae with twist of traditional Hawaiian. Fun song:

Big Ship

"Act patiently like the fishes in the sea, you got to hold on!"

Making / Keeping Moloka'i - Prequel: Tribute to Buzzy Sproat

Something new from my world of.... why not?

From a #conversation about the expression "bull in a China Shop", common expression in the U.S.
In Europe there is a similar idiom - great name for a band - an "elephant in a porcelain shop".
Quite an interesting difference, as captured in the cartoon versions. #Nuance More below. Going down...

Flight Plan
"Flight Plan"

Here was someone I was truly privileged to have known - and video'd! Shared pretzels and fruit @ #COH. :(
A legendary Hawaiian paniolo who heroically brought comfort to the 'leper colony'-> patients on the isolated Kalaupapa Peninsula on Moloka'i. #BuzzySproat #legend #paniolo #muleskinner #hawaii #molokai #RIP

Oh, and he could talk story! Starting with his life.
RIP. Aloha to the aunties & uncles & nieces and nephews.

Sorry about the audio - it won't get louder than the laughter of people or grass-hunting of the mules. Buzzy was funny! 🎧 Earphones &/or full speakers will help to "be there".

This is #Buzzy telling us how we need the mules to choose us and the how to ride down a sheer sea cliff. Not to worry, the mules were fed but they're going to go for the grass. Get to know your mule. By name. Hold on. Trust your mule. Be respectful. Okay! Let's go!

I made a video on Moloka'i with local music and my photos and vids. Info on that is also in the YouTube description.
But here [is the legendary cowboy/muleskinner guide on the #Kalaupapa trails down the sea cliff down to the colony which he personally helped for many years with his mule-back runs down a 26 switchback trail of sheer sea cliff. [ Photography ]

Meanwhile, yes, idioms. Like people, 'diverse'.
People everywhere have some metaphor in non-human nature to explain fellow humans trapped &/or out of control.

The American version of the cartoon is 'children only' (true! on Fox Family TV) - what we all are brought up seeing in cartoons and using as a metaphor for... the raging bull, so oddly finding itself itself thrashing about China. heh #reality

The French version portrays a more civilized #society with an endearing elephant. Agile really: But amid porcelain, maintenant...

Comme un Elephant dans un magasin de Porcelaine

I suppose metaphors, like cultures an fables, idioms and buzz phrases, run deep in the human DNA. Happy Weekend.

What a long strange trip it's been... and that's just today._

Memorial Day, USA

Moments. ago I realized, while being busy doing other things ("life"), there was some music playing in the background which was really engaging, more and more consciously. What is this?!. So it's a fascinating place and video, but just the music alone is very nice in the background. IMHO. Worked for me. It might for you. But check out the video for an eye-popping aerial tour of Moloka'i!

Breezy RLU-1: Kalaupapa, Moloka`i (GoPro 2 POV)

Sounded to me a bit like Mark Knopfler, Dire Straits, but very mellow for several minutes. Metheny? Garcia? What the hey?

So I checked it out and - definitely have not seen/heard this before! A favorite location I've rarely seen in a vid - other than my own of course - and that's got a long stretch of great local/authentic Moloka'i music too. Keeping Moloka'i Moloka'i

Kalaupapa Trail

He's right, it's surreal and it must be seen in person. He flew from Oahu to "the peninsula", former leper colony, and back.
I spent time "topside" on Molokai, and not owning an RLU-1, I had to do it the old fashioned way: muleback down the sea cliff.

#Molokai is a special place, where they want, as my video is titled, to "Keep Moloka'i Moloka'i".

The Art Of Life..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gUh8j5ui0o
As a rising star in the field of abstract mathematics, Michael discovered that he could see beauty and pattern where others could not. But his path was not to be inside academia, or even inside society. He went on a grand adventure to unify his Buddhism with his ability to see an expanded view of reality. He created beauty in a place where nobody else would, and made his friends amongst dolphins.

Extinction obituary: why experts weep for the quiet and beautiful Hawaiian po’ouli
Frantic conservation efforts couldn’t save the tiny, intricately colored songbird, whose obit is the first in our new series of memorials for species that have gone extinct in living memory

The last po’ouli died in an unusual nest. Too weak to perch, the brownish-greyish songbird rested in a small towel twisted into a ring. He was the last of his species, the last in fact of an entire group of finches, and occurred nowhere on Earth outside its native Hawaii. For weeks, as scientists tried to find him a mate, he had been getting sicker. The only remaining po’ouli had just one eye. Alone in the towel, alone in all the world, he closed it.
