It’s either Thanksgiving or the National Day or Mourning in the USA.

On October 3, 1863, expressing gratitude for a pivotal Union Army victory at Gettysburg, President Abraham Lincoln announces that the nation will celebrate an official Thanksgiving holiday on November 26, 1863.A few years later in 1870, Congress followed suit by passing legislation making Thanksgiving (along with Christmas Day, New Year's Day, and Independence Day) a national holiday. This was signed into law on June 28, 1870, by President Ulysses S. Grant.

Now as an observance of the Pilgrims who invaded the continent, had help from the natives in order survive, whom they then rewarded by killing them, (look it up,) that’s a hard no for me. But as a celebration of the Union kicking the Confederacy’s racist, elitist ass? Well HELL YES!

As day of reflection upon the many things for which I am grateful, I can totally get behind that, as the Attitude of Gratitude is how I deal with living in a cruel and uncertain world. Every day is Thanksgiving Day for me, for I am grateful for what I have, and just as much grateful for what I do not have, even if it is only a case of “YET.” (Y.E.T = You’re Eligible Too.)
