I DO IT BECAUSE I CAN.

I can live very happily without a cellphone, so I do. This is my primary telephone. A vintage landline with the most beautiful bell chime and excellent sound quality. It’s such a pleasure to hear it ring. I had an amazing green one, but it was damaged when it accidentally fell to the floor. They don’t make phones like this anymore. There are modern replicas, but the sound quality is very low. I have a backup replica.

The phone is usually in my bedroom. From time to time STATIC ELECTRICITY builds up in the room and it shows up on my receiver. For one thing, my bedroom is where I have all of my electronics, such as a PC, monitor, scanner, and printer.
The air also gets very dry which contributes to the static. The static electricity won’t harm me, but it can fry electronic components. The static on my receiver is a good warning that I have anti-static procedures to do. In the meantime, with its long cord, I park my phone in the bathroom sink. The small room turns into an echo chamber, making the sound of the ringing bell chime even more glorious. The room is static free, and the bathtub is filled with water which puts moisture into the air. Soon, there is no static on the receiver, and I can use the phone to test the static electricity in my bedroom.
