Hello again for the last topic of my round of hosting! Next up is @kahomono@friendica.me but first –

I was reading a site I really enjoy, OK Doomer and she referenced an interesting study about how people do not like to spend time (less than 15 minutes) in their own head…to the point where they would rather give themselves a mild electric shock! I would have liked to read more about the study because I have so many questions (but not enough to purchase the paper🤷‍♀️). Did people know the exercise would end? How do they usually feel about time? What was the cohort? How abrupt was the isolation?

To some extent I get it; it took quite a while to be able to be able to meditate without guidance. And a lot of that was stilling my thoughts because apparently, I have a lot of them. I do find it interesting to look back at my childhood from an adult perspective because I had a reasonable childhood, but aside from that I can think about things I’ve read or just things. If all else fails, I just think about active things like waves.

I don’t mind being alone or doing stuff alone but not all the time. How about you? Do you meditate? Or have solitary pursuits or do you need to fill your space with people?
