My mobility is going downhill, after my sepsis I am suffering from balance problems, combined with my diabetic Neuropathy it makes for a lethal combination. Using a walker is fine (after some years to get the grump and growl out of my system) for short distances, but using it in the public transport system is a disaster, somehow teenagers have a tendency to occupy the seating areas ment for invalids, and refuse to vacate them when asking nice (or no so nice, depending on my mental state).
My wife has been pushing me to get a scootmobile to fix my mobility problems around the city i live in, but i have been stubbornly resisting this for years on end, but my fall in the shower two weeks ago on holiday broke me.
That is to say literary and figuratively, head-injury, needing stitches, bruised hip bone, shoulder and lots of other more or less minor bruises, and a shocked confidence did it.
So now that i can finally walk for longer than 3 minutes again, she drag me to a huge store that sells used ones that they upgrade and refurbish (when needed) thus staying in what we can spend without having to jump trough bureaucratic hoops for (part) compensation, as that can take up to 1 year, and as i have only 2-5 years left (and god knows how long in a decent state where i can do stuff) we decided EFF them, we will invest the money ourselves, because we wanne go around this summer at least.
But most of the stuff they had (as do all stores selling scootmobiles) is Boooooooooooooring, ugly, so not me..
And then i discovered this gem inbetween, it took me right back to my first moped I rode aged 16, it sparked a tiny flame of joy, so we decided after some deliberation, to buy it, some adjustments need to be made, heavy batteries for longer driving pleasure, replacement of the container on the back with a rack that can carry my walker and my walking cane and such, so now i am waiting, itching to try it out.
And yeah it does not turn on a dime like the other models, it is longer, but hey, so am I, and quite wide, but I am not planning to enter stores and such with it, just to drive near, park and lock, and than walk with my walker or cane inside.
So sigh, dammit, yeah I am old, I admit it.........
