The Polish sports community is in mourning. On Wednesday, December 27, the Polish Athletics Association announced that Ronald Mehlich died at the age of 54.

Ronald Mehlich has represented #Poland on the international arena many times during his career. According to the pzla.pl website, he competed at the Universiade, World Indoor Championships, European Championships and World Championships.

“He achieved his best position in international starts in 1998, taking eighth place at the European Indoor Championships in Valencia,” we read.

Moreover, Mehlich won the gold medal of the Polish Championships in an open stadium three times. In addition, he became a two-time Polish champion in the indoor 60-meter hurdles championships.

Professionally, he was associated with the Academy of Physical Education in Katowice. After his career ended, he started training young people. He had a younger brother, Krzysztof Mehlich, who was also an athlete.

Ronald Mehlich died at the age of 54.
