On today's edition of what you won't read in the press, a total of 43 states set their “all-time” 𝗝𝗨𝗟𝗬 record high maximum temperatures before 1960. Of those 43, 39 were recorded in or prior to 1940. Half of the states set their “all-time” July record high maximum temperatures more than 90-years ago, including three before the 20th century.

The most states to set statewide record highs in just a single year was a whopping 12 in 1936. There were four each set in 1911, 1930 and 1934, and three set in 1901.

Most of these happen to be the state records for any month due to climatology (duh), but I'll reiterate once more that the map below specifically shows record highs by state for July. Not June. Not August. Not April. Not any month. July. And, since some people seem to have issues with reading, I'll emphasize it in bold: 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗽 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘄𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗺𝗮𝘅𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗺𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗝𝗨𝗟𝗬.
