Bravo, Rachel ! Seems like a very good budget to me. 'Invest, invest, invest' is what was needed, despite all the pre-budget messages of doom. This is firmly middle-class socialism, radical centrism in action : supportive of a strong state, but not offensively anti-business or tub-thumping revolutionary. Would I have liked more in the way of direct taxation on the very wealthiest ? Sure. But I'd also like not to scare the markets shitless like Truss did. This is a big step in the right direction of travel, which is more important than the more dangerous option of getting there immediately.
