California Wildfires via Nullschool

I've just discovered / realised there's a channel for active fire based on thermal emissions (under the "bio" selector). Shown here are carbon monoxide (CO) emissions, and active fire spots, in California. Note that virtually the entire northern Sierra Nevada (from Tahoe north) and southern Cascades (from Mt. Lassen to Mt. Shasta) is under an intense CO plume. Every national forest in that region (and possibly the state) is under extreme red-flag warning.

Link is locked in time to about an hour ago. Hit "Now" for current observations. Pan / scroll / zoom to see other regions.

(I've not yet checked status of fires, though as of a few hours ago, evacuation orders had crossed the state line into Nevada, with spot fires south an east of Meyers, South Lake Tahoe, and the Kirkwood and Heavenly Valley ski resorts.)
