According to Roger Daltrey, the Woodstock festival (1969) was "the worst concert they ever played". Scheduled for Saturday night, the Who finally performed at 5am on Sunday. During their performance, hippie activist Abbie Hoffman interrupted their concert to make a speech about the arrest of John Sinclair. Unreceptive to the hippie movement, Pete Townshend pulled him off the stage and yelled, "Get off my stage! At the end of the concert, he threw his guitar into the audience.
