Blast from the Past: Pingus

I have to give a terrible course this semester for which nobody can tell me what exactly I should do there, nobody can give me materials, I don't have any materials and without materials that course is basically useless. But since nobody cares anyway and that course is theoretically related to translation, I decided to teach my students things related to translation - which includes software localization, which I am showing them now, starting with gettext, which I explain using the game Pingus.

If you don't know Pingus, it's an open source clone of Lemmings. If you don't know Lemmings, I envy you for your youth. Pingus is kind of a puzzle(?) game, where you need to assign certain skills to certain penguins to direct as many of them as possible to the exit of a map. Pingus is 25 years old, Lemmings even older. My students are younger than the game, but what can I say: After I had shown them the basic idea behind the game, all my students were suddenly busy competing in a game older than any of them.

Well, next week we'll surely get some translation done...
