I recently read the book Good Citizens - Creating Enlightened Society by Thich Nhat Hanh, and most of the book was about living mindfully! He wants us to start with ourselves and live happily in the present moment. Then we can have more clarity and energy to take effective action
Also if we take good care of ourselves our quality of presence will be better and interactions with others will be more peaceful and empathetic, so there can be mutual learning (for example in discussions online)
