On a piece in the Guardian which essentially says that America is just fine and not really polarised at all, it's all just people inaccurately reporting their own beliefs when polled about them. Which is... well, yeah, they do... but they're also happy to vote for a bigoted fascist. They're happy to stand by when there's an attempted coup. The author doesn't factor laziness into his calculation, apparently thinking that belief => behaviour directly. Nor, I think, does he understand that overall sentiment from the media is far more important than specific details.
