Did the intellect of the human species reach its apex in the 1970s (and fall since then)?

The precision of the science is breathtaking.
All done with only the most primitive computers and data storage technology.
If I were a cosmologist, I'm not sure I wouldn't find this trivial or dangerously wrong. But I'm not, so I find it pretty amazing and telling.
I am given to suspect that computers have made us lazy and stupid. (How else could we view Musk as a genius or Trump as a leader?)
