Room-temperature(ish) superconducting material is now reality, since this new material is superconducting up to about 15 degrees Celcius. While it's not exactly practical for real-world applications due to requiring about 2.6 million times more pressure than the atmosphere provides, it's nonetheless an impressive step forward on the quest.
