I just watched the ABC Interview of President Biden with George Stephanopoulos. President Biden did not come across as vibrant and sporting brilliant rhetorical skill. But then again I don't recall he ever was that guy. Perhaps the greatest credit I'd give Biden here was his patience at Stephanopoulos asking again and again if he was sure and if he should continue and not drop out.

Again, I'd suggest this is actually a good test of us as Americans. Will we vote for Biden, in part (large or small) because we want to continue with rule of law and civil decency to continue? Or have we become convinced that Donald Trump is "our bully" that is going to right-the-wrongs in our system? Take a chance on a man who wants to be a dictator with immunity?

In some ways I can understand the appeal. The appeal has a basis (wealth has flowed upwards -- it has -- and neither Republicans or Democrats have stopped that). As some has pointed out there is a certain thrill in being part of the f-you crowd in regards to politics. But... ultimately history repeatedly teaches us that dictators are not a good choice. Loyalty to them makes no difference. The loyalty of his vice president meant nothing to him! He almost got the man killed!

The health and safety of capital police meant nothing to him!

As for Biden -- does this interview show him to be in mental decline? Yes there is some trail-offs, some answers then reconsidering then stop. In some ways that struck me as controlled cognition. At the end of the interview I think Biden made the case that he knows where he is and what he is doing. He concluded with...
