tkasasagi 🐻 on X: Emperor Uda from 9th century praised his cat. "This cat, unlike other cat that has light black hair, he has completely pure black hair. When he sleeps in circle, he is so small like a grain, but when he stretches, he looks like a great bow. His eyes are so sparkling. When he walks he makes no sound like a black dragon moving on cloud.I received his cat from the previous emperor 5 years ago, I feed him everyday."
Emperor Uda praised his black cat in his diary Kanpyougyoki (寛平御記) in Kanpyou first year (889) 6th day of the second month. I quoted this part from “Kakaisho” which is the Tale of Genji commentary book written by Yotsuji Yoshinari in 14th century.
