Some potentially good news for the USPS. And the rest of us.
Trump's out of office, but DeJoy's still running the Postal Service to the ground. That changes now
FTA: ... Almost three years after Trump appointed Louis DeJoy as U.S. Postmaster General, the wealthy Republican donor's plans to privatize the Postal Service are in full force.
That's because the U.S. Postal Service Board of Governors—the only entity that can actually fire DeJoy—has not replaced him. But two of the current members' terms have expired, and President Joe Biden can nominate replacements who would flip the board of governors' current pro-DeJoy majority. [emphasis mine]
^^ So that's the (potentially) good news. (The article links to a petition you can sign [for all the good it'll do] to encourage Biden to appoint anti-DeJoy USPS governors.)
And here's the Why the fuck was this allowed to happen in the first place?? news:
DeJoy is the first postmaster general in nearly two decades who has not been a career postal employee. He owned a logistics business that was a longtime contractor with the Postal Service, and has financial stakes with many of Postal Service’s competitors.
That alone creates a major conflict of interest, and we have seen this played out in the past three years of his tenure. [emphasis mine]
Read the article in its entirety if you're not sure why DeJoy's departure removal would be a good thing for every sane American.
