Why do so many Americans (and some Brits, and presumably others), keep saying "the left", when they are referring to a political party/philosophy that is not left in the sense of economics, not left in the sense of personal freedom,
... perhaps "left" in the sense of "sinister"...
Is that why?

But then it does nothing to distinguish from the other half of the duopoly?

... is it just to distinguish from the other side of the duopoly?

But then how do you distinguish outside that tight duopoly political philosophy bubble?

This seems worse than the typical conflationary conceptual-dimensional reductivism, even beyond mere linear to this 1-bit crude binary of "left" and "right" as a generality, let alone when where "left" and "right" are get positioned by the whims of the duopoly archons.

... I ask why. But... I pretty much know why.

The old industry I was in, 22 years ago before quitting it entirely, advertising, is basically the same as propaganda. Do the job well, and you're optimally maximising the manipulation of people, and have them think it their own idea, with no clue they've been manipulated. The proliferation and continued shifting of the language of the oppressor speaks a fat load to this.
