Here's #AlastairCrooke, a highly experienced and extremely aware former British diplomat, talking to Judge Napolitano an hour ago. He speaks calmly and slowly, without a trace of emotion, as if he's discussing what to have for lunch. But his demeanor is one of the very greatest gravity. He says:
There's no chance of any diplomacy stopping an Israeli ground invasion of Gaza. (But when Israel embarks on this, their difficulties and losses will be huge.)
What is happening right #now in #Gaza is definitively and indisputably an Israeli war crime.
Media coverage of all of this in the US is minimal compared with the extensive reporting in the rest of the world, and the huge wave of pro-Palestinian support this has generated.
After the war is over, which may take a while, Russia, China, Saudi Arabia and Iran will then apply great diplomatic pressure for a permanent solution to the longstanding Palestinian issue.
But the war is currently very unstable and unpredictable, and even small incidents could precipitate far larger ones. Hezbollah could enter the conflict with considerable force any day now. Anything could happen at all, at any time.
He also said, re Ukraine:
The war is effectively over.
Zelensky will be moved aside to live in exile somewhere, and all that will happen quite soon.
