This is a wall in the Zuoying district of Kaohsiung. Part of this wall is rather old, as it has been used as city wall. Part is rather new, because after WWII the people who fled with the KMT to #Taiwan needed accommodations and so a lot of houses were built in all the wrong places - at least according to contemporary views.

The old city wall was a popular place to build a house for a very simple reason: It saved the cost and effort for one of the walls. And as you can see, even today there are people still living in those houses.
