Welcome to #Checkin for Tuesday, February 15, 2022!

Happy Lantern Festival! February 15 is the last day of the 2022 Lunar New Year celebration which also marks the first full moon of the Lunar year. What does one do for the Lantern Festival? - spend time with family and friends, enjoy good food, light up lanterns around the home or go for walks with them. Can you believe this festival has been celebrated for over 2000 years? While I won't be doing much but set up a big lantern and light some candles this evening, this day brings back many fond childhood memories for me. The parents would buy us colourful new lanterns (we got to choose our own!). They were lit by candles and hung at the end of a stick. We'd take them on family walks in the evening. Other families in the neighbourhood would be doing the same. We kids learned early to be careful with our pretty lanterns or they'd inevitably flame out (we learned how to deal safely with those too). Even if my lantern didn't survive, the evenings were filled with laughter, good fun and magical, colourful lantern light. What brings back fond memories for you? #ThrowbackTuesday
