#HannahArendt, born Johanna Arendt on October 14, 1906 in Linden, Hanover ( #Germany) and died on December 4, 1975 in New York (United States), was a German naturalized American scholar known for her work on political activity, totalitarianism and modernity from a philosophical and historical point of view.
Often described as a “ #philosopher”, she referred to herself according to her profession: #professor of #political #theory, or political theorist. Her refusal of #philosophy is notably evoked in Condition de l'homme moderne where she considers that "the major part of political philosophy since #Plato could easily be interpreted as a series of attempts to discover the theoretical foundations and the practical means of a definitive #escape from #politics.
