El Rosario is but one of a few sanctuaries where #MonarchButterflies overwinter and most of them are under attack by illegal gang logging. El Rosario is carefully guarded by the group "Butterflies And Their People" --and one of them was murdered.

The Monarch’s ForestAt El Rosario sanctuary, within the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve, during the harsh winter months, millions of monarch butterflies gather, transforming the oyamel fir trees into a vibrant mosaic of colours. The golden rays penetrating the forest create a magical atmosphere.
