Olga Khazan misses the plot entirely when she highlights the variability of creativity by age in her piece in The Atlantic, "Big Breakthroughs Come in Your Late 30s", giving the key finding only a minor footnote:

Innovators have been peaking slightly later in life as the 20th century has progressed, in part because today's scientists have more to learn than their predecessors did....
