It was a stroke of luck
That I stroked the cat
As the old clock struck ten.
At the first loud bong
The cat jumped and meowled
Nearly giving me a stroke myself.
The cat bounded out of the room
As the clocked bonged on,
All claws, fangs and fur
And I was left empty lapped
And wondering
What appointment the cat was late for.
