That was Griboui, Renée's most beloved cat of her lot of 17 indoors and 15 outdoors. This tomcat was very special as he seemed to be in a meditative state of being nearly all the time... he was looking right through you... he must have been 17 years then.

The original below finds the light near the bottom, and the new one near the top. The colors are quite different too but, have to say that I had to crop it of a much larger photo, that's why it is a bit strange and a bit distorted...

When in 2007 I stayed with Renée in her old Catalan vintner's house for 3 months she suggested that I can choose the format of a painting she would do for me... this is, or better, was it as, I was totally disappointed when I received it several months later. She had overpainted it and, it looked totally different. The above original spread such a lot of spring and joy, and the new one does not have it. I got accustomed to the new painting, but it took quite some time.
