It turns out that #clementine peels actually make great charcoal substitute, I use them for when I want my drawing implement to be more flexible. I can also use Graphite, which also turns out to be water soleable, so I can use a paint brush to dissolve it, and spread it around.
For what i draw, harder to say. It doesn't "stay in its own lane" or whatever the most current buzzword youtubers use.
