Récemment, la FSF a pris la liberté d’envoyer à Microsoft un cadeau assez spécial à Redmond pour la Saint-Valentin : un disque dur vide accompagné de sa pétition ayant réuni non pas 7777, mais 13 ;635 signatures pour demander la publication du code source de Windows 7.

En agissant de la sorte, la FSF dit vouloir obliger Microsoft à faire étalage de ses sentiments vrais et de ses intentions sincères envers la communauté open source, la firme de Redmond affirmant depuis quelques années dans ses divers slogans qu’elle aime le monde du logiciel libre (Microsoft aime Linux par exemple) et partage plusieurs valeurs de ce monde.
