I lived here, Bon Secure, Alabama, By the Bon Secour River, Mobile Bay and the Gulf of Mexico.
‘Bon Secour’ means a 'safe harbor. ‘good security.’ I worked in a nearby town. It was a quiet, secluded place, off the highway, back in the woods. Narrow, winding dirt and gravel roads - a few were paved. It was mostly shrimpers, fishermen and their families who lived there, and others in the seafood business. But you can’t keep a treasure secret for long. Real Estate Developers swooped down like vultures. Condos, shopping malls, and all the horrors of an American city replaced much of its beauty and peace.
