John Farnham has given permission for his famous song, 'You're the Voice', to be used in a 'yes' campaign advertisement for the referendum on an Indigenous voice to parliament.

"This song changed my life," he said.

"I can only hope that now it might help, in some small way, to change the lives of our First Nations peoples for the better."

Prof Megan Davis: "You don't get anything bigger than John Farnham. He's Australian rock royalty and you don't get anything bigger than this song, which is the unofficial anthem of the nation. (blood oath. tablethump)

"It is a huge deal. We're really proud."

and from genius.com: A protest song written by Andy Qunta, Keith Reid, Maggie Ryder and Chris Thompson, and sung by John Farnham. It was a top 10 hit around the world and won the 1987 ARIA Award for Single of The Year.

The song’s main message is an empowering one, encouraging people everywhere to take a stand against corruption and make their voices heard. Reid also described it as an anti-war song, since it was released in the mid-80s, during the height of the Cold War.

There is an emphasis on bagpipes during the middle of the song." oh yes there is! :D
