a river scarf in the making, using a 5.5mm hook (4.5mm for sc along the short edges to neaten and set up the macrame) and Panda Crypto 8ply acrylic (about 1 150g/420m ball is enough). The body is in ripple/chevron stitch, worked along the length and working into BLO every two or three rows (make sure to be adding texture to both sides). The ends are macrame and based on this pattern (i think this section looks like seeds, seedlings and flowers).

length of "strings" for macrame: no idea. i went with the 2m stated in the above pattern, but that's for a full scarf by the looks - i have quite a bit of offcut yarn even with 10cm tassels. i'm tackling the other end of the scarf today and am timidly thinking 1.5m lengths would do. You'd think "measure the excess, double it and take that from 2m" but no..these things never work that way ;)

it has pretty colours.
