Rescuing some thoughts on the metaverse from another thread. TLDR : yes, VR is still primitive, yes, FB is awful. But VR has the potential (not guaranteed) to follow the evolution of mobile phones, from niche executive toy to ubiquitous indispensable tool, if and only if it exceeds certain convenience thresholds. This makes it worth following, and while you can hashtag "delete Facebook" all you want, this won't, unfortunately, make it or its myriad associate problems go away. A more sophisticated approach is needed.
