Spicy Tuna Rice Balls, mk. 1

First attempt at reinventing onigiri, maybe. These came out too large to eat conveniently so I'll try 1/2C size next time. #food #recipe #rice

Ingredients

  • 1C white rice
  • 2TBSP rice vinegar
  • 1TBSP sugar
  • 5oz canned tuna
  • 2TBSP mayonnaise
  • 1TBSP sriracha sauce

Preparation

Add vinegar and sugar to the rice and cook by any preferred method.
Drain tuna and mix with mayo and sriracha. Chill until rice is ready.
Press ~1/2C rice into the bottom and sides of a 1C measuring cup to 1/2" thickness. Spoon in tuna and cover the top with rice. Press down hard with the bottom of a glass or other flat item. Invert measuring cup and tap to release the rice ball.
Yield: 3. Let stand to cool before serving.
