In contrast to his two immediate predecessors, both political heavyweights with the gravitas to assert themselves on the #world stage, #Maas, who spent most of his career as a local #SPD #politician in his native Saarland, resembled a deer in the headlights standing alongside the likes of Mike #Pompeo, secretary of state under former U.S. President Donald #Trump.
