And another #forest is put to the ground, enforced by the #Helsinki police department, dragging protesters to jail, with the city threatening to sue the protesters, many of them local residents, for financial disruption.

The forest is a natural forest (natural as in not a forest field, which almost every forest in #Finland is, contrary to what even most Finnish people believe - yay for forest industry propaganda) with trees aging up to 400 years, home to many species of which 17 are classed as endangered, standing in the way of new houses. Houses the city planned to build here 20 years ago. The plans which have been questioned more and more by various environmental institutions. The city itself if in progress is evaluating the plans, yet at the same time other departments are pushing through cutting the forest down. This is very typical #Finnish bureucratic mentality - "we made these plans damnit, we're sticking to them, even if it burns our house to the ground".

This forest is called "Stansvik", and it will soon be another piece of nature lost to the greed of humanity. You can find more about it via https://stansvik.info/ (Finnish only).
