It’s my last day already and @Christoph S is up next! Time for me to start thinking of new topics but first…

I was on Twitter the other day and someone was wondering how to make friends IRL as an adult. It was easy when we were kids or even working. You go to the same place most days and see mostly the same people – surely one/some of them will be potential friends. Outside of work it can be more difficult to meet people, especially if you’re no good at discussing light topics. I join activities I enjoy on my own and try to join in conversations. The dogs are/were an important part of getting to know the community. Walking them means going to the same place and seeing a lot of the same people.

I was concerned when I retired I would lose connection – especially with COVID. Happily, that ended up not being the case. How do you meet new people IRL?

Grab your beverage preference (pixel or not) and enjoy the space. I try to keep things light but this is your thread so … there’s always an element of randomness. Sometimes it changes course and sometimes ideas are more nuanced. Debate is welcome but ad hominin attacks will be deleted.
