Today, during the football match between the 2 most popular football team in Iran, they had to evacuate the people from the top level of Azadi football stadium because of concrrn over safety of the building!
Built during Shahs regime for the 1974 Asian games, it has been the only stadium in Iran with a capacity over 100k visitors. Decades of neglect and lack of proper maintenance has made the stadium a ticking bomb and it was the first time in over 5 years they allowed people to watch the game from the upper deck,.
