Why howdy there #Checkin people!
Not much news on the kitten front except I had Little Betty in my lap this morning, and eating out of my hand this afternoon. She’s getting more comfortable around us, and was eating snacks on my desk while I typed on this. I’m attempting to trap her sibling, one that we’ve been calling Bubbles, to see if it’s a boy of a girl, because kittens supposedly do better in pairs.
And yes, we are way over the border into Crazy Cat Lady Territory.
It’s the birthday of Paul Newman, Ellen DeGeneris, Wayne Gretzky, General Douglas MacArthur, Eddie Van Halen, and untold millions of unfamous non-celebrities whose existence matters every bit as much.
In 1788, Arthur Phillip sailed into what is now Sydney Cove with a shipload of convicts, hoisted the British flag, and established the first permanent European settlement in Australia. That explains a great deal.
In 1950 India became a republic, achieving full independence from Great Britain, which was good for them and great for the (formerly) British motorcycle industry. Anyone checked out the Royal Enfield Interceptor twin, or the new BSA Gold Star single? Great (new) classic bikes for under seven grand.
It’s the 26th day of the year. (Go figure.) There are 339 days left in 2022. It’s the 4th Wednesday, on the 5th week of this year (using US standard week number calculation). There are 37th day of Winter left unless you’re in Syracuse NY. There are 53 days left till Spring.
And speaking of Spring, it’s time for me to spring out of here.
