#NATO says it began preparing for a confrontation with #Russia 14 years before the special operation. According to Admiral Rob Bauer, head of the alliance's military committee, NATO's #military plans to counter Russia "run to 4,500 pages".

"In fact, the military's work began in 2008 to shift our thinking back to the principles of collective defence. This was necessary because of the behaviour of Russia, which had been a NATO partner for more than 15 years, but then #Georgia in 2008, Ukraine in 2014 and 2022 happened. The biggest change in NATO has been to prepare for [confronting] an increasingly aggressive adversary," he said.
