Spanish Minister of Defense regarding Madrid's participation in the mission led by the US or the EU in the Red Sea:
"Spain is not going to participate in the Red Sea because it is currently participating in 17 missions and is doing so with effort. We think it is very good that the EU can decide in a few days that there will be a mission. We still do not know the scope of that mission, whether or not the EU is going to approve a mission, but in the meantime Spain's position, out of a sense of responsibility and commitment to peace, is not to intervene in the Red Sea.
"Spain makes its own decisions. No country has to tell Spain where it intervenes."
