Austria’s next election is about 18 months away, about the same time as the U.S., and the national-populist Freedom Party is leading in the polls, to the surprise of many.

The most recent polls give them a five-point lead. If they manage to pull it off, it would be the first time in the country’s history that the national-populist party comes first.

*After the Viennese Integration Council asked for an easier process for citizenship in Austria, the far-right FPÖ party demanded the suspension of granting citizenship to non-Europeans.
