The university should have anticipated Tuesday night’s chaos — but security personnel were nowhere to be found

#UCLA, the top-rated public university in the United States, experienced one of the darkest nights in its 105-year history on Tuesday. Over the course of my 33-year career at UCLA, I have never seen anything so terrifying take place.

Around 11 p.m., a group of masked counter-demonstrators made their way to the Royce Quad in the heart of campus and began to attack the encampment set up last week by demonstrators opposing the war in Gaza. They threw a firecracker into the encampment, tore down its outer walls, threw heavy objects at demonstrators and instigated direct physical confrontations. Those in the encampment were left to fend for themselves against a violent band of thugs intent on inflicting damage.

New York Times business editor Andrew Sorkin seeks an economic boycott on anti-genocide students.

He wrote in a column:
- “Many business leaders have told me they are deeply concerned about incidents of harassment against Jewish students that have taken place at and around universities like Columbia”
- “Companies could tell universities that they won’t hire their students”
- “Wall Street, private equity and venture capital firms may uniquely have [a pressure point]: They could threaten to stop managing the endowments” of the universities.
- “Examining D.E.I. policies [Diversity, equity, and inclusion] [...] What would happen if the Wall Street firms also sent such questionnaires to the universities before deciding to work with them as clients?”
- “The most common course of action so far has been to pull back on individual donations.”

The wealthy want you to think that poverty causes crime ("because the poor are stupid and immoral"). This is a lie they tell to protect themselves. Historically it is the wealthy -- specifically, the gap between themselves and the poor -- that causes crime.

Most countries turning into full fascist states and our democratic values being destroyed, one by one in every corner of the planet.

The nuclear powered nation of India turning fascist should be an alarm for everyone in the world. But sadly we are driven by for profit corporations rather than political leaders and India is one of the key nations in their plans to dominate the world economics.
