There’s a lot going on in the sky right now. This is the week for the Perseid meteor show peaking on today (the 11th), the moon is full and we can see 4 planets – Saturn, Jupiter, Mars and Venus at the same time. We are closest to Saturn and Jupiter so they are very bright. Then there are the summer constellations. Apparently everyone knows the Big Dipper (Ursa Major) but I don’t really find it that recognizable. I quickly recognize Orion, Cassiopeia and use them for orientation. Our neighbour cut down the tree that blocked the closest street light and allowed us to view that part of the sky.
What constellation is most recognizable to you? Have you seen meteors or fireballs?
Grab your beverage preference (pixel or not) and enjoy the space. I try to keep things light but this is your thread so … there’s always an element of randomness. Sometimes it changes course and sometimes ideas are more nuanced.
