#Economics & #taxation 101 [US] or made simple [UK] (HINT goverment #spending NEVER works like a household budget!):

“How can we get this simple point across?
When I go to Sainsburys and buy £40 worth of groceries, I no longer have the £40.
When the Government spends £10 billion on healthcare, it gets all or most of its money back.
The £10 billion pays wages and buys goods and services. The NHS staff pay taxes and buy more goods and services generating more jobs and profits and more taxes. The cycle repeats and repeats.
In the longer term, at worst the Government will have paid £1 billion or £2 billion. More likely, it will have paid nothing, or made a profit of £1 billion.
No politician seems to grasp this”
