The problem with bitcoin is that it burns so much carbon with nothing useful to show for it. 1% of all the planet's electricity is now used to mine cryptocurrencies. If we are going to burn that energy, let's burn it on something that will act as an investment into the future that can save lives and maybe reduce climate change instead of making everything worse.
