On this date in 1937, Franklin D. Roosevelt became the first U.S. president sworn into office in January. True. It was his second of four inaugurations; the first had been held fours years earlier on March 4, 1933.
In the U.S. it’s National Buttercrunch Day, whatever the heck that is. I find it’s toffee made with granulated white sugar in stead of brown sugar (?) and with nuts added. Almonds, usually. Sounds lovely. O . O
In Britain its National Cheese Lover’s Day, which they sensibly celebrate for two days, since it gives cheese lovers more time to enjoy cheese and the lactose intolerant to recover.
Some of you may know about the ongoing cat drama here at Mesahaus, We currently have to feral cats in my room who escaped from the kennel we were holding them in overnight at the suggestion of the people at the Humane Society. They are two females, an adult and a kitten, who both had surgery, so they said that “holding them overnight, or even in an enclosed space like a garage for 24 hours, will make for a better outcome for them.” Yeah.
Now it’s a fabulous outcome because they’re in my room, where Val is feeding and watering them. I leave the Roku on so they can watch the aquarium screensaver.
(Sigh)
