Time for something on the exotic side... Happy Diwali, the festival of lights! It is one of the most popular festivals of the Hindu, Jains and Sikh cultures. Its roots are ancient and rich in mythology. In a nutshell, Diwali symbolizes the spiritual "victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. Like all popular festivals, activities include cleaning, decorating homes and work places, wearing of finest clothes, for those who are religious performing worship ceremonies, but Diwali has evolved into a worldwide cultural event. Fireworks, feasts and gifts are also part of it. Oh yes, the festival is 5 days long...Do you explore or enjoy festivals that are not necessarily part of your own heritage?
