“Canines though” is an argument often brought forth by #carnists. #CaninesThough
Quoting Karim Samra:
One of the most ignorant but common arguments i keep hearing from carnists is the “canines though” argument.
As a dentist, it blows my mind that people think our canines are proof that we should eat meat. When in fact, NOTHING about our dentition, or our whole physiology for that matter, is adapted for flesh eating.
Our canines are short and blunt. I would love to see a human being catch an animal with his/her canines and claws and rip through their hide or clench onto their jugular, until they’re dead. Then start to dig into their flesh and feast on their insides.
Our canines can bite into fruits or root vegetables like carrots or beets. That’s the pretty much the extent of our canines’ normal biting capacity.
Our jaws move side to side like other natural herbivores and frugivores. We have large molars to chew leafy greens. Our mouths have small openings. We are incapable of opening as wide as a dog, a bear or a cat, in order to grab onto our prey and rip into their flesh.
Our digestive system is long, unlike carnivores and natural omnivores. That’s why we have a higher risk of colon cancer the more flesh, dairy and eggs we eat. Animal protein tends to rot in our colon and cause inflammation. Chronic inflammation is carcinogenic.
Our circulatory system is damaged by animal foods and processed food. Cardiovascular disease, atherosclerosis, is our number one killer. It has been shown to be caused by higher amounts of saturated fats and cholesterol in our diet. It has also been shown to be prevented, arrested and REVERSED with a whole foods plant based nutrition!
Our fingers are adapted to pick fruits, leafy greens and root vegetables, not grab onto prey!
So no matter how active a person’s imagination is, our canines are not a reason to eat animals or their secretions. Our physical health, depends on avoiding them and eating as much as possible, whole, unprocessed, mostly raw, fruits and vegetables. The most nutrient dense, antioxidant filled, fibre loaded, health promoting foods for humans!
Our sense of justice and compassion also depends on avoiding animal abuse and it’s time to open our eyes to the horrendous cruelty we are causing to these innocent sentient beings and make a change!❞
