Duke Ellington Orchestra with soloist Paul Gonsalves performing Diminuendo in Blue and Crescendo in Blue from the 1956 Newport Jazz Festival. This "complete" reissue has Paul Gonsalves playing on-mic for the first time. (On the original recording he played his solo into the VOA microphone instead of the Columbia solo mic. We found the VOA tape at the Library of Congress and brought it to Columbia where Mark Wilder synced it with the Newport Master tape). So you can now finally hear Gonsalves in all his glory!
